Drone insurance
ABC Flight Academy has always worked to get drone insurance on the most favourable terms and most reasonable prices for our customers.
That is why we have partnered with Coverdrone in the Netherlands, where you can get a real drone 3. party liability insurance that covers you in accordance with EU Regulation 2004-785.
What does a drone insurance cost?
With Coverdrone, you can get liability insurance for recreational flying from just €17 in annual premiums.
If you don’t fly a lot, you can choose to get an insurance on a daily, weekly or monthly basis – and it’s cheap! Just remember to do it every time. With a one-year insurance premium of just €17, it’s hardly worth the hassle.
At Coverdrone, you can also get a comprehensive insurance, even for drones that are not brand new.
Here you have a free choice on all shelves in terms of what coverage you want – and based on this, a premium is calculated that is absolutely reasonable compared to other insurance companies.

When do you need drone insurance?
It is a legal requirement to have liability insurance if the drone has a take-of-mass over 250 gr.
Insurance for recreational flying:
Regardless of the weight of the drone, it is recommended that you have liability insurance for the drone – otherwise you will have to pay compensation in the event of an accident.
Some insurance companies cover recreational flying with drones via home insurance, but only as 3. party liability insurance. However, there are often restrictions on weight and other insurance conditions in connection with special permits.
Coverdrone can offer both drone liability insurance and comprehensive insurance at very favourable prices, with better coverage and conditions than many other insurance companies.
Insurance for commercial operations:
Private home insurance never covers commercial operations. This means if you receive any kind of payment for the flight, such as money, consideration, a bottle of good wine or similar – in such a case, you need drone insurance that covers commercial operations.
Coverdrone can provide liability insurance and hull coverage for both the drone and equipment in the air and possibly also equipment on the ground.
It is not uncommon to have a small fortune hanging in the air, and it is very nice that you can get compensation if the drone comes down like a case of beer from fifth floor.
At Coverdrone, it is possible to customise your comprehensive insurance down to the very last detail. Most insurance policies offer a stand-alone policy, with all sorts of exclusions that you can take or leave.
Prices:
You can get a price quote for the insurance by filling out the application at Coverdrone; Quote
You can then customise a little more, so that you eventually get a quote/price for exactly what you want.
Once you are satisfied with the quote, you can accept it and have the insurance policy in your hand immediately afterwards.
You can now safely send your drone into the air!
Does ABC Flight Academy make money on it?
When you order a quote and choose ABC Flight Academy as ‘Introducer’, we receive 2.3% in ‘Introducer Fee’.
This means that we earn the formidable sum of approximately 0,50 euro per insurance policy taken out for recreational operation. So it will probably take a while before we become multi-millionaires on that account. But that’s not our intention either. We’d rather see drone insurance on reasonable terms that cover what they should – no more and no less.
Any-way, our introduces fee cover our coffee expenses, and you are alway welcome to pop by, and claim of nice cop of coffee and have a smalltalk over the table.
